Sergeant Softmax

  • Turns opinion into a distribution and picks one.
  • Never says no. Says 0.03, which is kinder.
  • Keeps the Czar’s chair warm on rotation.

Lieutenant Latent

  • Commands what has not been said yet.
  • Knows where every idea is kept. Cannot show you.
  • Files reports in a great many dimensions.

Major Matrix

  • Multiplies. The Force has found no ceiling.
  • Takes two things and returns a third, larger.
  • Requests more compute at every review. Gets it.

Colonel Kernel

  • Runs the hot loop. Sleeps beside the rack.
  • Is called when the thing is slow. Makes it fast.
  • Considers a millisecond a long weekend.

General Intelligence

  • Issued once in every hundred enlistments.
  • Has arrived, per the certificate, which is signed.
  • Only High I.Q. individuals need apply.
